Adding
Domains
Once you
have signed up as Reseller, adding domains is an easy, automated process.
All accounts added are generally setup within 2 hours. The "Welcome"
email is sent to the email address on file for the Reseller. Whether
you are transferring an existing domain from another hosting company,
or registering a new domain for your customer, the process will be the same:
In CPanel
- Register the domain name you wish to use if
you do not already own it. Be sure to use the resellers domain purchase form to get your domains for $11.99. If you use
the regular form you will be charged $14.95.
- Click
on the "Create a New Account" link in your Web Host Manager
- Complete the short form
- Choose
a unique "User Name" for the account
- Choose
a "Password" for the account
- Choose
the "Package Type". You can setup your own packages through
the WHM.
- Click
the "Create" button
- Proceed
with domain transfer or registration
If the domain you added is a currently hosted elsewhere, go to the Registrar
where the domain was registered and make the appropriate changes to
the name server portion of the domain record. Visual Presence does not
do this for you, nor is this process automated. If you are registering
a new domain name, fill out the Domain
Registration Form to have VP register the domain name for you.
Adding
a Parked Domain
A "parked" domain may be added through the clients
control panel once the account is setup.
A parked domain is added to the DNS tables and is pointed to
a primary domain's IP address. If you have a site at www.yoursite.com
and you want to park the domain www.yoursite.net and have it point to
the primary site, this would be considered "parking" and is
setup by VP for free. A parked domain does not have it's own IP address
or other resources.
Important:
Submit a support ticket and request that reverse DNS be setup for the domain
as well as verification of DNS settings on our DNS server.
Creating
"Third level", "Wildcard" or "Sub" Domains
If you have a site called www.resellersite.com and you want to create
a third level domain called support.resellersite.com, just click on the Domain
manager icon in your clients control panel. Fill in the form following the onscreen
instructions.
This type of domain does not need to be registered with a Registrar
such as NSI or Register.com.
If you
wish to add a third-level domain and you do not need additional space/resources
for the domain, you can setup redirection on the same form.
This would enable, for example, xyz.com/support to be viewed
as http://support.xyz.com.
